Jesus Is _____. By Judah Smith (Book Review)

Christianity as a whole has made Jesus into a dull, dry rule maker who is distant at best.  In the book Jesus Is_____., author Judah Smith presents a much more personable Jesus.   He also leaves the adjective placement to the reader, making one stop and think of who is Jesus to me?

As Smith learned, asking a variety of people to fill in the blank of Jesus Is ______, can come up with responses that vary from profound and funny, to bizarre and even perverse.  Yet none of those answers surprise Jesus.

An individual or a church who is wanting to impact their community might find this book really helpful.  People aren’t looking for a dull, boring list of can and cant’s.  Rather, people are looking for a real person who can be real, and with whom they can be real.  Jesus Is.

Smith dives into topics such as:

Jesus Is Your Friend
Jesus Is Grace
Jesus Is The Point
Jesus Is Happy
Jesus Is Here
Jesus Is Alive

Now, if by chance you are a really legalistic type person who thinks Christianity is void of humor and joy, this probably isn’t going to be one of your favorite reads.  Judah Smith (who is a pastor by the way) is a wonderful writer who ads his own flavor, and his flavor is a bit spicy.  Spicy is good. Humor is good.
