Apple Crisp

I took the girls to the apple orchard in early October.   We picked a bushel of Fuji apples, and they are supposed to be good storing apples.   At the rate we’re going, they aren’t going to last long enough to see if they do store well, ahem.

None the less, they are tasty and we’ve had pies, fried apples and now a delish apple crisp.   I thought I’d share the recipe with you.  The photo isn’t the best, but once the powers that be attacked the crisp, there was no opportunity for a better picture.



~6cups of apples (peeled and thinly sliced)
~3/4 cup sugar
~1 tbsp. flour
~1 tsp. cinnamon
~1/3 cup of water

Stir the sugar flour and cinnamon together and then stir into the apples.   Place apples in buttered baking dish.  Then add the 1/3 water to the baking dish.


~3/4 cup oats
~3/4 cup flour
~3/4 cup brown sugar
~1/4 tsp. baking powder
~1/4 tsp. baking soda
~3/4 cup butter (softened, not melted)

Mix first 5 ingredients well.  Then cut in butter and combine.   Spread topping evenly over apple mixture.

Bake at 350 for 40 minutes (or longer if you prefer a more crisp top).
