Preparing For Winter

Fall is here!  The leaves are changing, temperatures are dropping and the garden is fizzling out.  Now that the summer work is behind, it’s time to start getting ready for winter.

Our home has a heat pump/gas furnace, and a woodstove.  The woodstove is our main source of heat, as it’s both cheaper and warmer.  I’m a bit behind in getting wood ordered and stacked for the year, I'm thinking I need to order one more load.

The girls love helping with the wood, and working as a family to get things done.  I guess it’s all those “Little House” books they’ve read?  In any event, we all pull our share of the load around here.

Don’t worry though, Olivia really didn’t move that wheelbarrow load of wood, it was my job…but she looks really convincing huh?

This Radio Flyer wagon has come in quite handy over the years.  Neither child fits in it anymore, but it certainly helps with the workload!

There’s a great satisfaction at the end of the day, when the last piece of wood is stacked and everyone goes inside for hot cocoa!
